We are very happy to have added 2 years of the genealogical journal The Essex Genealogist database. This update adds volumes 31 and 32, covering the years 2011 to 2012. This update adds over 400 pages and 5,500 searchable names.
The leading publication for genealogical research in Essex County, Massachusetts, this quarterly journal has been published since 1981 by The Essex Society of Genealogists (founded in 1975). Within the pages of this journal are selections of cemetery transcriptions, bible records, vital and church records relating to families from Essex County, Massachusetts. The Essex Genealogist has had published numerous Ahnentafel’s (Ancestor Tables) of the ancestry of their members, as well as verbatim transcriptions of lectures over the years. This journal continues to serve those researching Essex County families with valuable resources now entering nearly four decades in print.
The indexing for these records includes full names, Publication year (not the year of the record), and article titles and authors.
This update is made possible by the efforts of our volunteer David Anderson. If you have some time and would like to get involved in the database digitization and indexing process please contact Rachel Adams, Database Services Volunteer Coordinator via email at rachel.adams@nehgs.org.

St. Edward the Confessor in Medfield began as a mission from Sacred Heart in Natick. It was named for St. Edward the Confessor, a Medieval king of England who ruled in the 1000s.
Sacred Heart in Middleborough split off from St. Thomas the Aquinas in Bridgewater. The cornerstone of the church was laid in 1880.
This was a small update–it adds 154 new images to browse.
We’d like to thank volunteer Francis Alix for his help making this update possible.

Colored etching of St. Francis de Sales from the Wellcome Collection.Today we’ve added seven new volumes to Massachusetts: (Image-Only) Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Boston Records, 1789-1900 from St. Francis de Sales in Roxbury. One Hundred Years of Progress, the book written upon the archdiocese’s centennial, in which I usually find my parish history facts does not have much to say about the history of this parish. Instead, James Sullivan describes the architecture of the Church in 1900 in great detail. This update adds over 2,000 new images to browse.
Be sure to watch our how-to video if you need advice on navigating this database.
We’d like to thank the following volunteers for their help making this update possible: Francis Alix, Eileen McCarthy, Angela Napolitano, Ross and Linda Weaver. If you’re interested in becoming a volunteer, check out our new webinar on the topic, presented by Rachel Adams, and myself, Molly Rogers.
Finally, the Archdiocese of Boston Archives have launched a new digital photo collection. Check back from time to time to see new content. As more images are added, this could be a great resource for researchers of Boston Catholics.

We are very happy to have added 5 years of the genealogical journal Rhode Island Roots database. This update adds volumes 35 through 39 for the years 2009 to 2013. This update adds over 1,300 pages and nearly 22,000 searchable names.
The Rhode Island Genealogical Society publishes Rhode Island Roots quarterly. It features many Rhode Island records, such as cemetery and tax lists, General Assembly petitions, civil and military records, and genealogical articles — all focusing on Rhode Island families. Other features include articles about Rhode Islanders in other state census records, queries and a list of RI research volunteers. The authors include well-known genealogists as well as RIGS members with stories of their own families to tell.

Today we’ve added one new sketch to Helen Schatvet Ullmann’s Western Massachusetts Families in 1790. This study project focuses on heads of families enumerated in the 1790 census in historic Berkshire and Hampshire counties, also including modern Franklin and Hampden counties. The new sketch profiles Robert Campbell of Plantation 7 in Hampshire County. He was a Revolutionary War veteran. Robert married Asenath Loveland in 1785. They had eight children.
